Come celebrate the defeat of the seat-belt bill!
June 7, 2009WHAT: Celebration! Friends! Freedom! Glory! Free Cake!!
WHERE: Murphy’s Taproom, 494 Elm St, Manchester [ Map ]
WHEN: Tuesday, June 9th, 8:00 PM
WHY: WE DID IT!!
The big money and the Feds were backing a nanny-state seat belt law this year. They pulled out all the stops — and so did we. In the end, we were victorious, and our Liberty is preserved for yet another two years…PARTY TIME!!
This is a celebration to honor everyone that worked so hard to stop the seat
belt bill, and to just have a fun time with everyone who agrees that
freedom to make choices is a Darn Good Thing, and worth fighting for.
Come one, come all! Bring a friend or three :)

This is great and let’s be honest, we must thank a couple of Democratic State Senators. Give credit where it’s due. Absolutely nothing is more appropriate as a symbol for the nanny state than govt-mandated seatbelts. How about this for a goal for 2010-elect enough House Republicans so that we can kill it there, so we won’t have to rely on the Senate Dems next time. Mark my words. Like Arnold in the movies, “I’ll be back” is the theme for those who would foist seat belts on us.
Anyone out there remember talk show host Jerry Williams who fought this in Mass for years? Maybe Libertarians should come up with an annual Jerry Williams Award. Alas, he’s gone to that fast speed lane in the sky now.

Special thanks to Senator D’allasandro for standing with the side of freedom. As there was no actual vote, I don’t know which other Democrats stood with us.

I think Betsi Devries and Jackie Cilley joined Lou; at least they did when this was defeated last time. There may have been another, maybe even Larsen (doing Lynch’s bidding of course).
