March 23, 2010Matt Suermann

This morning, Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign for US Senate announced that Will Wrobleski will take the helm as its campaign manager.  Wrobleski becomes the third paid staffer on Ovide’s campaign.  His hiring also means that former Sununu staffers (campaign and Congressional) can now be found in significant positions in three of the four Republican US Senate campaigns.  Previously Ayotte has announced the hiring of Jeff Grappone, Harold Parker, and Kate Pyle and Bill Binnie’s campaign has brought on Paul Collins.

Here is the release from Ovide’s campagin:

Lamontagne Announces Campaign Manager

Will Wrobleski one of New Hampshire’s “most talented grassroots operatives”

(Manchester, NH) – The Lamontagne for Senate campaign announced today that it has hired Will Wrobleski to serve as campaign manager in charge of day-to-day operations.

Lamontagne Senior Advisor Jim Merrill said “We are thrilled to add someone of Will’s caliber to our team. He is one of New Hampshire’s most talented grassroots operatives, highly regarded throughout the state for his skill and work ethic. Will’s wealth of political and campaign experience will be an enormous asset as he oversees the day-to-day operations of Ovide’s growing campaign.”

About Will Wrobleski: Wrobleski joins the Lamontagne campaign from the STEWARD of Prosperity grassroots organization, where he has served since early 2009, first as its Political Director and currently as its Executive Director. Previously, Wrobleski served as Field Director for the 2008 Stephen for Congress campaign, while also working for the NH Republican Party and Senate Republican PAC during that cycle. During the New Hampshire Presidential Primary, Wrobleski served as Coalitions Director for the Romney for President campaign. Wrobleski also worked for John E. Sununu for several years, first joining Congressman Sununu’s federal office as a Special Assistant in 1999 and later as a Field Coordinator during Sununu’s 2000 congressional campaign. Following Sununu’s Senate victory in 2002, Wrobleski returned to New Hampshire to join Senator Sununu’s staff as State Project Director, serving in that capacity from 2003 until 2007.

Good hire. Wrobleski’s strong connection with NH conservative grassroots - especially tea partiers and 9-12ers - means Ovide is ready to challenge Ayotte directly on the issue of who best amplifies the current rebellious mood of the Granite State GOP. It’s not a surprise that Ayotte draws smiles from the Washington establishment (McCain, Cornyn, etc.) and then loads up on ex-McCainiacs for the race. But it could be argued that her staff proves she is the “institutional” Republican in the race and therefore not suited to lead the current revolutionary emotions of the voters. New Hampshire taxpayers want someone who will direct the fire in the electorate, not damp it down.

This is exactly the right person for the type of campaign Ovide needs to run. (And he would be a great pick up for any campaign.) Congrats to both.
